Dreaming about jewelry can give us valuable insight into how we express ourselves to others and how we see ourselves. So let’s explore the different kinds of jewelry you might experience in your dream and what it means to dream about jewelry.

Dreaming about jewelry is often interpreted as a symbol of the self. It calls for us to reflect on how we share ourselves with other people and view ourselves in the world.

Since jewelry is often worth a great deal of money, as a dream symbol, it can often point to our own feelings of self-worth or even signify our worries about our finances.

Types of Jewelry and What They Mean in Dreams

There are many different kinds of jewelry, and so when you are interpreting your dream, it is important to think about how the type of jewelry may connect to some aspect of yourself or your life.

Luxury Necklace

A necklace is worn around the neck, which is the location of our throat chakra and our vocal cords. Often a necklace symbolizes how we are currently communicating with other people and expressing our wants and needs. Choker necklaces can mean that you feel unable to express yourself and feel suffocated in your life.

Bracelets can be worn around the wrist or ankle and symbolize our need to take action and our ability to achieve our goals. In addition, they are a symbol of reinforcement: we need to try and control something in our lives, or we may feel like someone else is trying to control us.

Earrings

Earrings are worn on the ears, which connect us to the realm of hearing and the ability to listen. Metaphorically speaking, we can think about earrings representing what we currently hear (or don’t). Are you listening to what other people are saying? To see a pair of earrings in your dream represents harmony, balance, and unity.

Other piercings, such as nose piercings, tongue piercings, belly button rings, etc., usually mean something is trying to get our attention in life. You may be unaware of something or someone that is trying to get through to you.

Rings are usually worn on the fingers, which are connected to our hands and actions. The most common symbol for a ring is a wedding ring, which symbolizes unity and commitment with another person. Rings in dreams often pertain to our relationships with others, romantic or otherwise, and the things we need to do to maintain healthy relationships with other people.

We wear watches to keep track of time. In dreams, a watch can symbolize our awareness of the passing of time and how we see ourselves as part of larger cycles in life. In addition, it can be an indicator of our need to plan to reach our goals.

An amulet or good luck charm may be worn to protect oneself from harm. This can symbolize insecurities you may be facing or the need to feel supported in life.

A rosary or prayer beads can be a symbol of your need to connect spiritually. For example, you may have a guilty conscience about something you have done, or you may feel like you need to invite God back into your life.

Lockets in dreams can mean there is something you are guarding or keeping for a rainy day. For example, you may feel anxiety about losing someone or something important to you. You may also be keeping secrets or some part of yourself hidden from others. See the related dream symbol for keys.

Now that we’ve explored the types of jewelry we might see in our dreams, let’s take a look at the features of the jewelry – what material it is made from.

What is the Jewelry You Dreamed About Made Of?

Jewelry is most often made from precious metals such as gold, silver, copper and precious gemstones such as emeralds, diamonds, and rubies.

However, jewelry can also be made from wood, plastic, and glass. Understanding the properties of each of these materials can help you better understand the symbolism of the jewelry you saw in your dream.

Gold: Dreaming of gold means you are seeking purity and truth in a situation. You may be overly concerned about your appearance to others, or you may be worried about your current financial situation. Gold often symbolizes money and wealth. However, in dreams, it can also be a sign that there is a lack of self-worth.

Silver: Dreaming of silver can signify that you are looking for ways to express yourself and make your feelings known. It may also represent your intuition, especially if the dream involved an image of a full moon or a bright light. You may be trying to work out a solution to problems you are currently facing. If the silver is tarnished, it may mean that you need to take a closer look at your current situation; you may be neglecting some important aspect of yourself.

Copper: Copper is an excellent conductor of energy, and so it often reflects how energy is flowing in your life. Dreaming of copper jewelry can mean that you are willing to take responsibility for your own actions and that you may be feeling overwhelmed by the demands of others.

Wood: Jewelry made of wood is a symbol of a yearning for the simple things in life. You may feel like you need to get back to your roots and look at traditional values. Wood is made from trees, which can be a symbol of wisdom and serenity. See the meaning of trees in dreams for more insight into wooden jewelry.

Glass: Glass is typically transparent, and it can also be fragile. Dreaming about glass jewelry can mean you are worried about breaking something in your life, or you may even be going through a break-up with a significant other. Learn about the meaning of glass in dreams here.

Plastic: Plastic jewelry is often regarded as being cheap, fake, or a knock-off. It can mean that things are not as they appear in your life or that you may be trying to be something you are not. Plastic isn’t all bad, however. It can symbolize that you are malleable – you can easily change and adapt to new situations.

Diamonds: If you dream about diamonds, it could mean that you are focused on material things or outward appearances. You may need to question what is truly important in life. Your expectations may be too high, or you may be putting too much pressure on yourself or someone else.

Pearls symbolize wisdom; they often reflect a sense of safety and security. To dream about pearls means you act wisely in a situation or do what is best for your current needs.

Emeralds are green in color and can mean that you are thinking about your finances, starting something new, or even having jealousy towards another person. See more on what the color green means in dreams.

Rubies are red and are a symbol of passion, vitality, and life. If you dream about a ruby, it may mean that you need to take action and move forward in some area of your life. You may be trying to find your purpose in life or carving out your independence. See the meaning of red in dreams.
