Aardvark Spirit Animal and Dream Meaning

Last Updated on August 2, 2018

It can be hard to find the meaning of an aardvark in your dreams, as its not a very common dream symbol covered in typical dream dictionaries. Fortunately, there are ways to determine exactly what your dream about an aardvark may symbolize.

What Does it Mean to Dream of an Aardvark?

Aardvarks are an uncommon animal, but very interesting and curious to learn about. As a spirit animal, the aardvark can often provide a lot of support and wisdom to guide you through your current challenges in life.

To understand this dream, it’s important to think about the details of the aardvark.

Step 1: Describe the Aardvark in Detail

To get started, think about 5 words that describe the aardvark. What color was it? How big was it? What was the aardvark doing in the dream? Describing the aardvark will help you better understand what it means. See color symbolism and meanings for more information on what colors represent in our dreams.

Step 2: Compare Aardvark Behavior to Your Own Life

Aardvarks are nocturnal animals which live in underground burrows. Have you found yourself staying up at night a lot lately? Have you been “digging for something” or “burying something”? Do you feel like you have been living underground?

Other Possible Dream Interpretation Meanings for Aardvark:

African folklore believes that a charm made from the aardvark can help people to pass through walls and doors. Think whether or not this could be a possibility in your dream – is there a metaphorical wall or door stopping you from doing something? Have you been sneaking around lately?

Another common use for the word aardvark is to give people an alphabetical advantage in directory listings. For example “Aardvark’s Handyman Service” would be #1. Are you trying hard to be number one at something in your life?

Remember, you will always be the best person to interpret the meaning of your dreams! Think carefully about how you would describe the aardvark, and what possible meanings it could have in your life.

  1. So, I think you may have missed this interpretation of the aardvark, because last night, I had a dream featuring an aardvark which i am certain can be interpreted outside your helpful (but informative) guidelines. The aardvark was of typical size, coloration, and behavior, however, the aardvark was incredibly fast and was quickly eating all of the termites that had somehow appeared in my kitchen. The speed at which it cleaned the floor made me realize this aardvark was representative of my efforts to clean up my past transgressions.

  2. About a month ago or more, i had a dream about a huge Aardvark, ..this thing was massive and it kept rubbing up against me like it wanted to be petted and loved.. etc… To my knowledge, we really dont have any around this area and i have absolutely no idea why i dreamt that… Of all the animals in the world, but i am a night person and i sleep mostly during the day, so i thought this reading was interesting.

  3. Last night I dreamed I was outside in the evening and my dog psychically urged me to break off part of a fence to form a plank. Then he directed me in a direction towards a fairly large, gray aardvark that was sick and behaving aggressively. I then tried to beat it to death, but only succeeded in crippling it without getting injured myself. My dog stayed out of the way. Then I brought my parents over to it. Mom, my dog, and I watched as Dad finished it off. I do have a dog in real life. I also tend to stay up at night. I feel any of these other interpretations are possible, but I’m still not understanding what part of me is needing to be “killed off”.

  4. I had a dream last night about an aardvark. Though it was not a nightmare, the aardvark was not friendly or cuddly. In my dream, I was in a strangers bathroom with a cat. I went to wash my hands as the cute cat was in the corner sleeping. When I put my hands under the faucet, the aardvarks paw reaches up and then hisses at me. The rest of the dream was the aardvark and the cat standing at the door making scary sounds and trying to not let me out of the bathroom. The only thing I could remember is saying to the aardvark “You seem hungry” so I was trying to beg him to leave to get food. I don’t remember how or what happen next in my dream. I don’t even know why I’m on this forum. All I know is I saw an aardvark in my dream and it was really weird.
